Overview

Nick and his family had an old, overgrown preformed pond that was leaking, unsafe, and no longer a pleasant feature in their garden. They wanted a natural-looking pond that felt like something you’d find on the Devon moors – somewhere they could enjoy nature together.

We replaced their failing pond with a fully functional Ecosystem Pond complete with a 3-metre stream, pond lighting, lush plantation, fish caves, and enhanced circulation to improve water quality. A second stream was added for a gentle trickling effect, creating a peaceful and immersive experience.

The Challenge

The existing pond was leaking, structurally unsafe for their children, and didn’t reflect the natural beauty they envisioned. Additionally, the ground beneath the pond was mostly sand, making it difficult to secure large boulders safely.

The Solution

We built a safe, durable, and self-sustaining ecosystem pond that works with nature. The team carefully compacted the sandy base to stabilise the boulders and create a secure, long-lasting structure.

The Final Result

The transformation exceeded expectations—so much so that Nick and his family now call their pond ‘The Little Dart’ in tribute to Devon’s rivers. It has become a haven for wildlife and a place where their children can safely explore and connect with nature.

We can’t wait to see how this pond matures over time!

What The Customer Said

Wellies and Waders have just completed a pond build for us here in the South Hams of Devon. We gave Andre the brief of creating a natural looking, wildlife friendly pond with a small stream to remind us of a Dartmoor stream.
The finished project exceeds our expectations and is infinitely better than the old, preformed pond which it replaced. The pond looks fantastic, the stream is fantastic and he also added a second small waterfall for additional contrast and impact.
Andre is not only a perfectionist with a great attention to detail but throughout the build he was working on the pond as if it was his own garden and he was building it for his own enjoyment. Our garden has been transformed and we and our children are delighted.
Andre is an absolute pleasure to deal with and we could not recommend him highly enough.
